Zika Virus is a vector borne pathogen belonging to the family Flaviviridae transmitted through Aedes species mosquito which bite during the day time. The infection can also be transmitted from infected person via sexual contact, infected pregnant women can trasmit the disease to womb or new born baby, lactating mother can transmit to the infants etc. When a pregant women gets infected with zika virus, it easily enters the placenta and infects the womb and affect the central neverous system causing congentinal zika syndrome.
