Global Polypectomy Forceps Market is segmented By Type (Cold, Hot, Other), By End-User (Hospitals, Clinics, Others), By Region (North America, Europe, South America, Asia Pacific, Middle East, and Africa) – Share, Size, Outlook, and Opportunity Analysis, 2022-2029

Polypectomy Forceps Market Overview

The global polypectomy forceps market size was valued at US$ XX million in 2020 and is estimated to reach US$ XX million by 2028, growing at a CAGR of XX % during the forecast period (2022-2029).

The surgical removal of a polyp is known as a polypectomy. Colon polyps can be removed via open abdominal surgery, but it is more commonly done during a colonoscopy. There are two types of polypectomy forceps. Hot forceps polypectomy is used for small polyps and cold forceps polypectomy uses electrocautery to destroy residual polyp tissue that has been purposefully left behind.

Polypectomy Forceps Market Dynamics

Increasing demand for minimally invasive techniques is expected to drive the market in the forecast period

There is an increasing demand for minimally invasive techniques globally. Surgeons have rapidly adopted minimally invasive surgical (MIS) techniques for a wide range of applications. For example, ResectrTM treatment, also known as polypectomy is a minimally invasive surgical procedure performed with a ResectrTM tool obtained from Boston Scientific. Respect treatments are given in an ambulatory surgical facility, a physician's office, or a hospital. Polyps in the cervix or uterus are removed during a polypectomy. The growth form on the endometrial lining and can cause symptoms or not, but many women experience unusual bleeding or irregular periods. The growths may also make it difficult for a woman to become pregnant. Polyps in menopausal women frequently cause vaginal bleeding. Colonoscopy and polypectomy procedures, which aid in the early detection and treatment of colorectal polyps, are important minimally invasive procedures for lowering the risk of colorectal cancer. Polypectomy methods include standard, hot, and jumbo biopsy, cold snare, and hot snare.

Polypectomy with jumbo biopsy forceps, which have a greater capacity for removing larger tissue samples, and cold snare polypectomy are adequate for completely and safely removing minor polyps and shortening the withdrawal time of the colonoscopy procedure. Endoscopic mucosal resection laparoscopic-assisted endoscopic polypectomy and laparoscopic-assisted colectomy are all safe and effective procedures for treating "difficult" colonic polyps. In a significant number of patients referred for surgical intervention on these lesions, open segmental resection can be avoided. If endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR) and laparoscopic-assisted endoscopic polypectomy (LAEP) are ineffective, a minimally invasive approach can be maintained with a laparoscopic colon resection.

Limitations of polypectomy surgery are expected to hamper the market growth

Polypectomy complications such as bleeding, perforation, and post-polypectomy syndrome have been reported. Most of these complications are self-limiting or can be managed conservatively and/or endoscopically. Cold forceps biopsy polypectomy is a quick, simple, and inexpensive procedure. Unfortunately, this technique is associated with significant rates of incomplete polyp removal, which leads to higher polyp recurrence rates and, as a result, an increased risk of interval colorectal cancer. The reason for this could be that bleeding after the first bite can obscure the visual field and hide the rest of the residual polyp, making removal difficult. Hence, the complications associated with polypectomy surgery and the limitations of different forceps is expected to hamper the market.

COVID-19 Impact Analysis On Polypectomy Forceps Market

COVID-19 has resulted in a significant increase in the demand for medical supplies such as personal protective equipment such as masks, gloves, and protective eyeglasses. Because of the increase in the number of COVID-19 cases worldwide, there is a greater demand for medical supplies from both healthcare professionals and the public for precautionary measures. Manufacturers of these products have an opportunity to capitalize on the increased demand for medical supplies to ensure an adequate and consistent supply of personal protective equipment in the market. As a result, COVID 19 is expected to have a significant effect on polypectomy forceps.

Polypectomy Forceps Market Segment Analysis

Cold type polypectomy forceps are expected to dominate the global polypectomy forceps market

When using cold techniques, you can use cold forceps or cold snares for smaller polyps, while hot snare has been used for larger polyps. Hot forceps have mostly fallen out of favor. Polypectomy for difficult-to-remove polyps may necessitate the use of specialised devices and advanced techniques, and the procedure has evolved.  As a result, endoscopic removal of most polyps is now possible.  Because electrocautery is commonly used for polypectomy.

Cold forceps polypectomy is appropriate for lesions less than 3mm in diameter, though jumbo cold biopsy forceps can be used for a more thorough polyp resection. The ease of obtaining and retrieving the polyp for pathology with a low risk of adverse events is an advantage of cold biopsy forceps polypectomy. Cold polypectomy with snares and forceps is a common procedure during a routine colonoscopy. When compared to standard size forceps, jumbo biopsy forceps have the perceived performance advantage of requiring fewer passes and/or bites to remove polyps.

Polypectomy Forceps Market Geographical Analysis

North America region accounted for the largest market share in the global polypectomy forceps market

With the increasing incidence of colon and rectal cancer and product launches, this region is expected to dominate the polypectomy forceps market. Colon polyps are common in adults in the United States. Colon polyps can affect anywhere from 15% to 40% of adults. Men and older people are more likely to have colon polyps. In their lifetime, approximately 4.4 per cent of men (1 in 23) and 4.1 per cent of women (1 in 25) will be diagnosed with CRC. Despite higher incidence rates in men due to women's longer life expectancy, the lifetime risk is similar in men and women.

On September 25th, 2019, In the United States, Olympus introduced the SnareMaster Plus hybrid hot/cold snare. The SnareMaster Plus is a hot/cold hybrid snare with a unique hexagonal shape and thin wire design that provides optimal flexibility and stiffness for accurate placement on tissue and precise cutting ability.
