The global N95 Masks market size was worth US$ YY million in 2020 and further predicted to reach US$ YY million by 2028, at a CAGR of 14.0% during the forecast period (2021-2028).

An N95 is a type of respirator mask used as personal protective equipment for prevention against inhaling aerosols as well as vapors or gases that are health hazards. The N95 mask also provides protection against inhaling micro airborne infectious agents such as airborne viruses including coronavirus, SARS, H1N1, etc. According to the European standard, it should have a minimum of 95% filtration and maximum of 8% leakage to the inside. N95 masks are gaining popularity as it is considered the most common and best-selling type of respirator mask, for protection against the coronavirus, it is also used in versatile industries such as construction, agriculture, healthcare, metals & mining and others. However, following the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, these masks are being primarily used in the healthcare industry by healthcare workers and other professionals confronting the pandemic.

The rapid spread of the COVID-19 pandemic across the globe has dramatically increased the demand for PPE, including N95 masks, which has further resulted in their insufficient supply. To cater to the domestic demand for face masks, several countries worldwide had also imposed export restrictions or equivalent measures, such as the compulsory purchase of the available stocks by government authorities.

China used to produce about more than half of the world’s mask production. Daily production was about 20 million units per day. Ever since the pandemic broke out first in China in December 2019, there had been temporary shutdowns of the factories causing disruption in production of these masks. Factories that used to make phones and cars are turned to produce masks. Machines that once churned out fibrous material for diapers and sanitary pads are being retooled to produce materials for masks these days.

“Coronavirus Outbreak Boosts the Sales of N95 Mask Manufacturers Created The Market Opportunity”

Since the coronavirus outbreak began in China and spread worldwide early this year, the world’s top 10 N95 mask manufacturers have witnessed a rapid soar in the sales of their respiratory protective products.

The global fear of coronavirus pandemic has certainly become one of the top factors driving the exceptional growth of the global N95 respirator mask market in the first half of 2020.

Under the current circumstance, many countries around the world have seen consumers stockpiling and panic-buying N95 masks and other respirator masks, which has caused a significant shortage of N95 masks in some of the markets.

Despite some of the healthcare officials claim that healthy people don’t need to wear facial masks to prevent themselves from being infected by the coronavirus, the global demand of N95 masks continues to rise significantly, boosting the sales of some world’s largest N95 mask manufacturers.

Recent outbreaks of respiratory infection-based pandemic diseases such as COVID19 and H1N1 have boosted the demand for N95 respirators among frontline healthcare workers such as nurses, first responders, and medical practitioners. N95 respirators are finding extensive use in protecting healthcare workers against job-related risks of exposure to infectious micro-organisms and viruses.

Though healthcare regulatory authorities across the globe have recommended that the use of N95 respirators should be limited to healthcare workers, many individuals are also purchasing these masks to mitigate the risk of getting COVID-19 infection and preventing its transmission. Such factors have significantly boosted the sales of N95 masks from medical outlets and have propelled their demand and created a lucrative market opportunity.
